All About Corpus Christi, TX
Corpus Christi, TX, is easily one of the state's most vibrant, exciting, and historic cities and much larger than most people realize. (Nearly 330,000 people call Corpus Christi their home.) Not only is Corpus Christi a culturally significant city, but it’s also right on the Gulf Coast, which means you’ll get to enjoy all sorts of boating, fishing, and adventure sports when you live here.
Life in Corpus Christi, TX
While Texas is known as a state filled with cowboys and tumbleweeds, Corpus Christi is not your typical Texas city. In fact, rather than cowboy hats and spurs, you’re more likely to see sandals and bike helmets. Many people call Corpus Christi “the Tampa of Texas” because the weather is always hot and sunny, and the lifestyle is laid-back, carefree, and revolves around the Gulf of Mexico (and Corpus Christi Bay’s) spectacular waters.
If you’re moving to Corpus Christi soon, you’ll be glad to know that jobs are plentiful and the cost of living is nearly 20% lower than the U.S. average. In addition, fishing is a certified lifestyle here, as well as windsurfing, hunting, boating, etc. In short, life in Corpus Christi is pretty great (even if you don’t have a boat). Speaking of boats, if you need boat storage in Corpus Christi, Move It Self Storage has plenty.

History of Corpus Christi
Many people have no real idea why and when Corpus Christi, TX, got its name, and what history the city’s seen. Legend says that Corpus Christi started as a frontier town and one of the only trading posts for hundreds of miles. Since it was founded in 1838-39 by Colonel Henry Lawrence Kinney, the small settlement was called Kinney's Ranch. However, about 300 years earlier, when Spanish explorer Alonzo Alvarez de Pineda discovered it, he was so impressed that he called the place “Body of Christ” or, in Spanish, Corpus Christi.
