Halloween Events Happening On Nantucket

October 27, 2015

The summer sun has left Nantucket for another season, but that doesn't mean the island rolls in the sidewalks, either. Nantucket, largely known as a summer destination, has plenty of fall-themed fun for the whole family. If you are looking for island events that put a fresh spin on Halloween, we’ve got you covered.

Friday, October 30th

Teens can kick off the holiday weekend by taking in a movie at The Nantucket Atheneum Great Hall. All teens between 12 and 18 are welcome at the movie for free admission. Two showings are offered, and you are sure to get a scream from a Halloween-themed flick. All movies are PG-13. The Nightmare Before Christmas is on the reel for Halloween weekend.

Adults can take in the Halloween festivities at The Rose and Crown. The adults-only location takes Halloween seriously with the Halloween Fetish Party. Come in costume for the costume contest.

Saturday, October 31st

The following day is the big show. Start off the day with The Boo Bash, a skating party where costumes are welcome. The event begins at noon at Nantucket Skate. Snacks are also available.

Once you've finished skating your heart out, you and the kids can head to the Easy Street Cantina for wing day, a local favorite on the island, before catching the Halloween parade at 4 p.m. The Halloween Parade is a town tradition that everyone enjoys. Show up in costume and gobble up some treats in town, before heading out on a trick or treating adventure.

Older kids and adults might enjoy taking in the Original Nantucket Ghost Walk. The walk is an 80-minute guided tour of Nantucket's most haunted locals. A few frights and scares are sure to part of the show, and your expert guide is sure to have a few tricks up his sleeve.

Adults can end their evening at The Rose and Crown, where DJ Brian will be spinning some ghostly tunes. The party starts at 10 p.m., with last call at 1 a.m. This adult-themed Halloween party is always a fan favorite, so don't forget to stop by for some merriment.

While Nantucket is a summer destination, the island takes the fall seriously, too, so don't write off this great island as soon as the summer sun peaks behind the horizon for another year. Once you've finished up on the island, stop by Nantucket Storage Center to store your belongings until you find your way back to the beaches of Nantucket.
