December 1, 2015

Nantucket is the perfect place to spend Christmas. Visitors and residents enjoy strolling down the candlelit cobblestone streets while carolers and roaring fires greet you as you visit beautifully decorated stores or dine at the many restaurants. The Nantucket Christmas Stroll weekend is the perfect place to take the special ambience in while enjoying the holiday festivities.

What Is Christmas Stroll Weekend?

The Nantucket Christmas Stroll Weekend has been running for 42 years and includes many great events over a three day period. This event is perfect for the whole family with entertainment for both children and adults. Every day will have its own list of special events happening throughout town, giving you plenty of chances to enjoy the festive spirit.

What’s Happening This Year?

This year's event will take place Dec. 4-6 and will begin with a Stroll Scavenger Hunt and Pirate Walk to the Lighthouse. Friday will also include a Christmas Stroll Dinner at Breeze with holiday music and an a la carte menu. Finish out the day with The Raven's Night Walk, strolling down the haunted streets of Nantucket and visiting haunted houses along the way; this is perfect for lovers of all things spooky.

On Saturday, Santa will arrive at 12:15 p.m. at Straight Wharf. Watch Santa pull in on the Coast Guard cutter, boarding his special sea sleigh. Santa will then lead a fun and festive parade up Main Street ending at the Jared Coffin House. Children will be able to visit with Santa, telling him their secret wish list and having a seasonal photo taken. Saturday will also see plenty of Christmas markets throughout Nantucket, live entertainment and the Tour of Lights.

The Nantucket Christmas Stroll Weekend will wrap up on Sunday with the Festival of Trees, a Marbelous Marble Contest and the Bolshoi Ballet at the Dreamland Theater. There will also be plenty of entertainment at restaurants and stores and The Tour of Lights will finish out the weekend.

This is one of the best weekends to visit downtown Nantucket and is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. You can find out more about all the events happening throughout the weekend here or by visiting the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce office.
