October signals many things; beautiful fall weather, Halloween, and of course, the yearly Hogtoberfest celebration. On Nantucket Island, residents and visitors look forward to October and indulging in the yearly tradition that takes place in the weeks leading up to Halloween. The weather is perfect, the water feels amazing, and the scent of pork is in the air!
It's a festival aimed at the hearts of pork lovers everywhere. The cooking celebration features all the pork and beer you have room for, highlighting pork favorites, including bacon, sausage, and pig's head. Watch cooking demonstrations, learn what the best cuts of pork are, and enjoy cocktails with pork-inspired flavors, like vodka with bacon and pork mojitos. The festival culminates in a pork-intense dinner featuring just about every pork flavored dish you can think of.
Hogtoberfest is in its seventh year. This year the festival takes place Oct. 19 and 20, so make plans to travel to Nantucket for this culinary celebration you're sure to enjoy. From learning how to use an entire pig from tail to top to treating yourself to a pig-sized dinner at the end of the festival, there are too many reasons not to miss this yummy celebration. You'll even learn which type of beer to pair with which pork meal.
Whether you're a year-round inhabitant or have a vacation home on the island, it's likely you could use some extra storage. Don't drag your boat and all of your fishing gear back and forth from the mainland; store it instead. Contact Nantucket Storage Center for more information on the storage options we offer, and clean up the clutter in your home.
