August 13, 2015

If you have little ones and you are on the prowl for some new school lunch ideas, look no further. We've compiled a list of creative lunch ideas to help your kids start the new school year out right.

Mash up an avocado and mix in some lemon juice along with a little bit of salt. Then spread the mixture onto a tortilla. Add diced tomatoes, crumbled bacon and spinach. Roll the wrap in wax paper to keep it firmly intact.

Turkey Rolls

Pick up some tasty smoked turkey at your local supermarket and dice it up. Add in some thin strips of celery, toasted almonds and your child's choice of mayonnaise, mustard or guacamole. Scoop the ingredients into a hot dog bun to complete.

Peanut Butter Banana Burritos

This wrap starts with a generous amount of peanut butter spread along a tortilla. Mix in a few squirts of honey and a light sprinkling of crumbled bacon. Slice up a banana, space the slices evenly along the tortilla and roll up the wrap.

Turkey Salad Sandwich

This lunch is simple to prepare but tastes quite lovely.  Combine slices of smoked turkey with provolone cheese.  Add a few almonds to give the turkey salad an extra bit of crunch. Be sure to pack some sweet grapes in a small container as a complementary side dish.  Or, put them right onto the sandwich if it suits your little one's fancy.

Bow Tie Pasta Salad

Your kids will adore this tasty pasta salad. Grab a small plastic container that can fit into a lunchbox or lunch bag. Fill it with cooked bowtie pasta, diced red peppers, diced carrots, edamame, corn and a sprinkling of your child's favorite cheese.

Roly Poly Lunch

Your child will be the envy of his classmates when he brings this sandwich to lunch.  Use a rolling pin to flatten out a plain piece of bread.  Then add on peanut butter, jelly, turkey and any other toppings that your little one loves.  Roll it up the flattened bread in a sushi-like manner and slice it small rolls with a bread knife.
